What makes a good AI prompt?

01
Role / persona

Telling the AI to act as an expert ("You are a senior copywriter...") dramatically improves output quality and domain accuracy.

02
Clear objective

State exactly what you want — "write", "summarise", "compare", "list" — not vague instructions like "tell me about".

03
Context

Who is the audience? What is the background? What have you tried? More context = more relevant output, fewer wasted iterations.

04
Output format

Specify what you want back: a bulleted list, a JSON object, a 300-word paragraph, a comparison table, a numbered plan.

05
Tone & style

Formal or casual? Technical or plain-language? Specify the tone so the AI does not guess wrong and produce the wrong register.

06
Constraints

Tell it what NOT to do. "Avoid jargon", "no bullet points", "do not exceed 200 words", "do not use X phrase" are all valid and useful.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool send my prompt to an AI?
No. The improvement runs entirely in your browser using intelligent pattern-matching rules. Your text is never sent to a server or stored anywhere. The tool works offline once the page has loaded.
Which AI models does this work with?
The improved prompt format works with any large language model: ChatGPT (GPT-4o, GPT-4), Claude, Gemini, Mistral, Llama and others. Good prompt structure is model-agnostic.
Why do my prompts produce bad results?
The most common reason is vagueness. When you write "write a blog post about AI", the model has to guess your audience, length, tone, level of detail and purpose. Every guess it gets wrong moves the output further from what you wanted. Structured prompts remove the guesswork.
Do I still need to edit the improved prompt?
Yes, always. The tool gives you a strong starting structure — but you know your context better than any template. Replace the placeholder values (shown in [brackets]) with your real information before pasting into ChatGPT or Claude.
How is the quality score calculated?
The score measures how much information your original prompt contained: role/persona, tone, output format, length constraint, target audience, and context clues. A score under 40 means the AI has to guess most things. Above 65 means you already provided good structure — improvements focus on format and constraints.
